About the Role

As the Senior Accountant, General Ledger, you will be responsible for general ledger (GL) areas for cash, prepaids, payroll, benefits, accruals, and other ad hoc requests. You will focus on process improvements utilizing software such as Parabola & Alteryx, data analysis, and improving current processes. You will also support strategic initiatives as we continue to evolve our business here at Stitch Fix. You will have the chance to serve as a key contributor to a rapidly growing and changing business environment and strengthen your understanding of both operational and technical accounting processes.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Be responsible for accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures for certain key balance sheets and income statement accounts (including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis), and coordinating the preparation of monthly management reporting packages. Key areas of responsibility will include cash, prepaids, payroll, benefits, and accruals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various organizations within the Company, including People & Culture, Operations, FP&A, Legal, and IT, to support the accounting close process.
  • Assist in automating existing manual processes through the use of Alteryx, Parabola, and other tools.
  • Support the Corporate Accounting Manager in enhancing the Company’s existing accounting procedures and SOX controls. Seek and execute opportunities to improve accounting operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare audit schedules requested by the auditors to support our quarterly reviews and annual audit.
  • Assist and prepare internal management reporting documents to support company decision making and analysis.
  • Assist in testing SOX controls as part of Management’s testing program in areas other than your own.
  • Support ad-hoc projects as appropriate.

  • You have a Bachelor's degree with a major or in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis.
  • You have 4-5+ years of work experience. CPA and large public accounting firms and GL experience is preferred.
  • You can bring excellent technical accounting skills with a detailed understanding of current GAAP standards.
  • You possess a strong analytical mind and are comfortable juggling multiple tasks while meeting hard deadlines.
  • You are highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • You are excited about building and refining processes and controls, and possess a good understanding of SOX requirements.
  • You are a team player and have the ability to work independently.
  • You are self-motivated, deadline driven and result oriented, a problem solver with a can-do attitude with strong teamwork skills and strong desire to drive changes.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the Company organization.
  • You are highly skilled in MS Excel (pivot tables, Vlookup, etc.) and the ability to quickly manipulate and analyze large data sets and build reports. You are proficient in Oracle (or similar sized ERP), Excel, and Powerpoint.  Alteryx and Parabola experience is highly preferred.
