Onsite – Buffalo, NYThe FastWorks and ForgeWorks teams in the Space & Defense Group are seeking a 2026 Spring & Summer double block “3D-Printern” to support rapid prototyping and production improvement efforts. The intern will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY.
To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering Bachelor's or Master's Degree program, at an accredited university.
GPA of at least 3.0; exact GPA requirement will be specified by department.
This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
Ability to relocate for the duration of the internship.
NX experience preferred; SolidWorks and/or CAD experience is a plus.
Experience operating FDM 3D printers and working with common materials such as PLA and ABS preferred.
Students within the Moog U.S. Internship Program are expected to have a professional disposition, effective communication skills, a strong desire to learn, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment.
In this role you will:
Assist engineers and technicians in conceptual design, CAD modeling, and fabrication of 3D-printed tooling, fixtures, and shadowboards.
Produce detailed CAD models and engineering drawings under mentorship; iterate designs based on testing and shop-floor feedback.
Support rapid prototyping activities: prepare prints, post-process parts, and help run validation tests.
Work with ForgeWorks to triage shop-floor issues, develop temporary containment fixes, and contribute to validation and formalization packages.
Participate in Gemba walks and on-floor collaboration with technicians and production leads to identify and scope improvement projects.
Document design iterations, testing results, basic cost/benefit notes, and handoff
materials for product/manufacturing engineering.
