Staff Accountant

Objective of Role

Responsible for journal entries, reporting, and account reconciliations, assisting with month end close reviews, assisting with internal reporting functions, as well as other ad hoc projects across the Company’s Finance department.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Preparation, entry, and documentation of daily, weekly, monthly, and other periodic journal entries.
• Complete month end close duties including maintaining detailed accrual schedules, performing P&L reviews, and performing reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
• Maintenance and reconciliation of deferral entries.
• Assist in the preparation of schedules for external and internal auditors.
• Assist with development of monthly reports for departmental related expenses.
• Assist in the analysis, preparation, and presentation of financial reports and statistics to management.
• Completes daily cash entries and performs weekly cash reconciliations.
• Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related discipline, or the equivalent in work experience and self-study.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or other accounting software preferred.

Required Skills, Abilities, Soft Skill Factors:

• Demonstrated understanding of balanced journal entry preparation under GAAP with regard to debits, credits, and normal balances.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to adapt to changing requests and requirements.
• Strong computer/systems skills. Ability to utilize standard software applications to include MS Office suite with heavy emphasis on Excel.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
