Position Description (Essential Duties & Responsibilities):
Maintains and supports the integrity of the operating system environment and various computer systems. Administers, installs and troubleshoots a variety of operating systems.
Sets up administrator and service account’s, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance and installs system-wide software.
Performs systems maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery and file maintenance. Schedules, installs, and tests system software upgrades.
Configures software and resolves technical problems.
Monitors and maintains software licensing and maintenance agreements.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
Basic (Required)
- Four-year university degree or college diploma in computing or information technology or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- 8-10 years of Linux experience, and high level of proficiency is required.
- Broad understanding of information technology concepts.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment to resolve issues and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and under own initiative
- Develop and implement system monitoring and automation tools ensuring the stability and integrity of our Linux infrastructure.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Linux systems, processes and procedures.
- Self-motivated to learn and acquire new skills.
- Possess excellent problem-solving skills.
- Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
- Proficient with windows as a desktop environment.
- Ability to work a hybrid on-site schedule.
Preferred
- Experience administrating the following
- Linux and related certifications
- Virtualization hypervisor management and configuration of VMware ESXi
- Project management experience
- Configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet etc...
- Experience with common webhosting environments, including LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
- Networking experience (Routing, VLAN’s, firewalls)
