Linux Administrator III

The Linux Administrator 3 provides design, implementation, maintenance, and support services for server level enterprise applications. Linux Administrator 3 is responsible for maintaining end to end knowledge of all systems they support.

Position Description (Essential Duties & Responsibilities):

Maintains and supports the integrity of the operating system environment and various computer systems. Administers, installs and troubleshoots a variety of operating systems.

Sets up administrator and service account’s, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance and installs system-wide software.

Performs systems maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery and file maintenance. Schedules, installs, and tests system software upgrades.

Configures software and resolves technical problems.

Monitors and maintains software licensing and maintenance agreements.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

Basic (Required)

• Four-year university degree or college diploma in computing or information technology or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• 8-10 years of Linux experience, and high level of proficiency is required.
• Broad understanding of information technology concepts.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment to resolve issues and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and under own initiative
• Develop and implement system monitoring and automation tools ensuring the stability and integrity of our Linux infrastructure.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Linux systems, processes and procedures.
• Self-motivated to learn and acquire new skills.
• Possess excellent problem-solving skills.
• Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
• Proficient with windows as a desktop environment.
• Ability to work a hybrid on-site schedule.

Preferred

• Experience administrating the following
• Linux and related certifications
• Virtualization hypervisor management and configuration of VMware ESXi
• Project management experience
• Configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet etc...
• Experience with common webhosting environments, including LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
• Networking experience (Routing, VLAN’s, firewalls)
