Description
Position Function:
The Residential Program Supervisor reports to the Director of Residential Services. The Residential Program Supervisor is responsible for the ongoing development, supervision, staffing, and evaluation of program services, ensuring the provision of quality services within a trauma informed care framework and compliance with best practice standards, contract requirements, and all COA and licensing standards. The Residential Program Supervisor provides on-going supervision, coaching, and support to the Team Supervisors and Youth Care Specialists and works as a part of an interdisciplinary team. The job requires sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in human services field required. Master’s degree preferred. Related experience may be substituted for required education on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.
Experience:
- 2 years’ supervisory experience in a licensed residential program
- Understanding of trauma informed care principles
- Training and experience in Trust Based Relational Intervention preferred
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft software and the ability to learn databases as needed
Other:
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within 90 days of establishing residency
- Must have an acceptable driving record
Working Conditions:
Working conditions include daily exposure to children and youth placed a 24-hour residential environment. This could include clients with behavioral problems, including possible physical aggression. Will also be exposed to the typical hazards of the residential environment related to household activities, cleaning agents, and food preparation. Exposure to illness and blood exists. Residential programs do not close for holidays or inclement weather. They operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. The position requires exposure to confidential information and must maintain confidentiality and follow policies related to personnel, clients, and personnel and client records. Extended walking and standing daily. Must always be physically able to use authorized crisis intervention techniques.
Contacts:
The position is responsible for coordination with the treatment team and contact with parents, guardians, relatives, school personnel, therapists, case managers from other agencies, psychiatrists, law enforcement officials, other external youth and adults, and other community members. The position is responsible for contact with all youth and staff of ACH Child and Family Services.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Residential Program Supervisor will oversee and monitor the work of the Team Supervisors and Youth Care Specialists. This includes all aspects of their job as well as agency related activities and responsibilities.
Decision Making Responsibilities:
Coordinate, approve, and/or make decisions concerning program operations, staffing situations, schedules, service provision, staff hiring, staff development, staff supervision, and client interventions.
Key Expectations/Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, supervision, and effective implement of the program with application of trauma informed care framework, best practices, and in accordance with all contracts and regulatory standards (including but not limited to identifying client strengths, methods focused on genuine relationships, intervention planning while meeting the health and safety needs of each client).
- Interview, select, support, coach, and supervise all direct care staff.
- Schedule and maintain appropriate staff to client ratio and coverage for the program always.
- Provide on-call support for the program and campus.
