About the Role
The New York Times is seeking analytical talent to turn passion for data and support of world-class journalism into tools and insights.
As part of the Data and Insights Group (DIG), you will join a large community of experienced analysts who partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and PMO teams across the business. You’ll work with our Home Team to improve the product experience of using the Homepage and support the real-time decisions that editors need to make regarding its programming. We are looking for an analyst with database skills, and the ability to translate data into insights for partners across product teams and the newsroom. You will report to the Senior Manager, Data and Insights on our subscriber experiences team.
Responsibilities:

Write SQL to pipeline and analyze big data

Develop dashboards to expand access to data and analytics

Run A/B Tests, including pre-launch sizing and post-hoc analysis of results

Develop best practices for experiment design, including advising on hypothesis generation, sample size, and counter metrics

Collaborate with company partners to understand the business and develop data-driven insights that are both strategic and operational

Democratize data and insights through skillful data structuring and use of visualization tools
Basic Qualifications:
-
1+ years of experience working with data teams to deliver reporting and analysis or a quantitative degree
-
Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases
-
1+ years of experience working with dashboarding tools such as (Mode, Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
Preferred Qualifications:
-
1+ years of experience with A/B testing
-
Experience building data pipelines or transforming large datasets
