Senior Cost Accountant

We are looking for a Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team and support the Natural Ingredients business in Livingston, California. this position, the Sr. Cost Accountant will need to have the ability to partner with Plant/Manufacturing Operations team to help them achieve their goals.  Using accounting and financial analysis experience, this role will support management and provide data driven recommendations, as well as ensuring that inventory and manufacturing controls are executed consistently.

What you’ll do:   

• Use General Accounting Functions such as 
  • Review month-end inventory balances and transactions. 
  • Post Journal Entries to GL and manage accruals. 
  • Work with plant management on inventory management and controls. 
  • Perform weekly and monthly inventory reconciliations.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Production Metrics and Statistics
  • Must gain a deep understanding of Raw Material inputs and drivers about Sensient grown products (onion, garlic, and Parsley).  Manufacturing activities range from dehydration, to toasting, milling, blending, and packing. 
  • Develop and report on production Key Performance Indicators to plant management. 
  • Review spending (Supplies, Repair & Maintenance, and Labor) on a regular basis and provide summarized information to management.   
  • Review and publish manufacturing variances. 
• Financial Analysis
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting activities for the plant.
  • Constantly seek improvements in methods to better understand and report the production data.
  • Run Return-On-Investment (ROI) analysis on capital projects.
  • Support finance team with ad-hoc analysis as needed. 

What you’ll bring:  

• 5+years of Cost Accounting experience in a manufacturing and/or food processing business 
• Possesses a positive attitude and ability to hit the ground running 
• Advance level of Microsoft Office Excel required. MS Access a plus
• Excellent organizational skills, leadership qualities, and interpersonal skills 
• Good understanding of general ledger

About Sensient Natural Ingredients  

Sensient Natural Ingredients is one of the largest producers and distributors in the world of dehydrated onion and garlic products as well as chili powder, paprika, chili pepper and dehydrated vegetables such as parsley, celery, and spinach. These ingredients are used in many of today's popular convenience foods. The Natural Ingredients unit is located in Turlock, California.  

The salary range for this position is $86,250 - $143,750 USD.  Pay within the range is based on several factors, which may include, but are not limited to, education, work experience, specialized training, and labor market conditions.  In addition to salary, Sensient is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits program to support the holistic well-being of our employees and their families.  This position is also eligible for performance-based incentive pay.
