Job Duties
The Department of Taxation is seeking an accounting professional to fill the position of Revenue Accountant. This position will work in our Revenue Accounting Office and will assist with distributions to external entities, the accounting for transactions that take place in a taxpayer's account and ensuring our internal system is reconciled to the State accounting system.
The Revenue Accountant provides accounting control and reconciliation of various types of revenue and revenue transfers, such as transfers to cities and counties for sales tax revenue and to other state agencies for commodity taxes and aviation tax.
This position is located in our Main Street Centre office in downtown Richmond, Virginia.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule once fully trained.
The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience, up to $65,500.

Minimum Qualifications
• Experience working with state government accounting
• Experience working with revenue accounting
• Experience creating accounting entries
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with data analysis and skilled with using Microsoft Excel
Additional Considerations
• Working knowledge of the Commonwealth Accounting Procedures and Policy manual (CAPP)
• Advanced data analysis and Microsoft Excel skills
