About the role

JOB SUMMARY: 

Ensures continuity of patient care by providing sufficient quantities of patient care equipment that is clean and in good working order for delivery to the nursing units. Operates MEMS (Medical Equipment Management System) to provide tracking of patient care equipment and to process appropriate patient charges. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED equivalent. Central services experience preferred. 

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: 

CRT training preferred. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

1. Ensures quality patient care by the delivery of patient care equipment to the nursing units. 2. Assures the placement of specialty beds according to Department of nursing policy. 3. Ensures the proper charging of patient equipment use through MEMS. 4. Performs a complete daily floor check for equipment inventory and patient charging purposes. 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

Ability to keep accurate records Ability to converse with various health care professionals Must be able to walk long distances Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Clean, well-lit and comfortable climate Exposure to the hazards of handling contaminated instruments, patient care utensils, etc. during the decontamination process Possible exposure to cleaning agents Moderate noise environment Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements Subject to many interruptions Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries Required to wear eye and face protection, non-sterile medical glove or utility gloves and moisture-resistant barrier gown, according to the task performed
