This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.Come join us at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Kent, WA as a Manufacturing Engineer supporting the Tank & Weld Manufacturing Engineering team. In this role, you will help develop and implement robust, cost-effective manufacturing processes for complex aerospace structures, contributing to the advancement of next-generation space systems.
This position is part of Blue Origin Operations, encompassing Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security, and plays a critical role in enabling manufacturing and supply chain execution across all Blue Origin sites.
As part of a highly collaborative team of engineers, technicians, and specialists, you will partner closely with design engineering, quality, and production teams to support the development and execution of manufacturing processes for tanks and composite overwrapped pressure vessel (COPV) hardware. You will play a critical role in enabling high-quality builds, resolving complex manufacturing challenges, and driving continuous improvement to achieve production rate and program objectives.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide direct, hands-on support to the production team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Support assembly and installation, ensuring compliance with engineering requirements and resolving discrepancies
Act as a liaison between design, test, operations, and manufacturing teams
Lead troubleshooting and disposition of non-conforming (NC) weld-related issues, including defects such as cracks, porosity, inclusions, undercut, and incomplete penetration/fusion
Interpret NDT/NDE results (UT, RT, PT, PAUT) and support defect evaluation and resolution
Interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications, translating them into precise, comprehensive, and execution-ready work instructions that enable consistent, high-quality manufacturing
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions (RCCA) for manufacturing non-conformances
Support DFMA and PFMEA efforts to improve manufacturability, build sequence, and production efficiency
Provide design for manufacturability feedback to engineering teams to improve quality and reduce cost
Collaborate on Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to implement process improvements and reduce defects
Take ownership of product quality and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or related field
3+ years of relevant experience (internships and applicable project experience may be considered)
Knowledge of structural mechanics principles (load paths, strength of materials, FEA interpretation)
Familiarity with NDT methods (visual, PT, UT, RT, PAUT, etc.)
Experience with manufacturing, welding, fabrication, and assembly processes
Proficiency interpreting 2D/3D engineering drawings and CAD models
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Hands-on, team-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
Excellent communication skills across shop floor and leadership levels
Ability to build strong working relationships across cross-functional teams
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
