JOB SUMMARY  

Under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor, this role is responsible for performing comprehensive facility maintenance and ensuring the optimal operation of a wide range of warehouse distribution equipment—including conveyors, picking robots, wrappers, case erectors, and material handling systems—within an 850,000 sq. ft. distribution center. The focus is on safety, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement. The technician will execute preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, perform mechanical and electrical repairs, and support capital improvement projects to maintain peak performance of all systems.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • You will perform mechanical and electrical repairs on warehouse distribution equipment, including conveyors, picking robots, stretch wrappers, case erectors, scanners, and other material handling and packaging systems.
  • You will conduct preventive maintenance and diagnostic tasks on equipment as directed by the Supervisor.
  • You will obtain and maintain a Power Industrial Truck (PIT) license to safely operate warehouse vehicles such as forklifts, cherry pickers, and turret trucks.
  • You will carry out general facility and building maintenance tasks, including plumbing, lighting, drywall repair, painting, and basic HVAC upkeep.
  • You will work safely at heights of up to 35–40 feet.
  • You will act as a liaison by maintaining clear and effective written and verbal communication between leadership and team members.
  • You will evaluate resource usage and make informed decisions to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • You will assist with on-the-job training for team members.
  • You will lead by example—be approachable, dependable, and consistent in following through on commitments.
  • You will adhere to company policies and procedures and provide feedback to the Supervisor when inconsistencies are identified.

 

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have an Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • You have 5+ years of related experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • You have strong mechanical/electrical aptitude; skilled with hand and power tools.
  • You have previous experience with conveyor belt repair and maintenance required.
  • You are proficient with computers (Microsoft Office: Excel, Word).
  • You have familiarity with DC technologies and process flow.
  • You have the ability to use test and metering equipment.
  • You have strong work ethic, self-motivated, able to work independently or in a team.
  • You are willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime.
  • You can lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk on concrete floors, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and work at heights.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Dematic Conveyor and AutoStore experience.
  • Technical training and certifications.
  • Familiarity with LEAN/5S methodologies.
