Job Description:

Manages full range of commercial lending activities in designated region and/or for a designated group(s) typically with a $1 - $5+ billion portfolio with responsibility for achieving sales, retention and budget goals.  Manages and develops a major portion of the Company's commercial loan portfolio and/or may manage specialty and/or other lending-related groups.  Manages complete line of service, including new business development, portfolio management, underwriting and credit decisions and collections.  Manages regional staff directly and through subordinate managers, establishing goals and evaluating results.  Participates personally in developing and retaining commercial relationships, particularly largest, most sensitive, visible and complex accounts.  Maintains in-depth knowledge of commercial and other Company products and resources, with knowledge to structure complex deals and cross sell wide array of offerings.  Maintains established market presence and extensive network of outside referral sources for new business.
Ensures that own work, as well as work of any employees supervised, is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, as detailed in policies located on Company intranet; policies include but are not limited to Fair Lending, Know Your Customer, Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable anti-money-laundering policies.

Depth & Scope

  • Manages full range of commercial lending activities in designated region and/or for a designated group(s) typically with a $1 - $2 billion portfolio with responsibility for achieving sales, retention and budget goals.  Manages and develops a major portion of the Company's commercial loan portfolio.  Manages complete line of service, including new business development, portfolio management, underwriting and credit decisions and collections.
  • Manages staff directly and through subordinate managers; provides direction, sets goals and ensures that various areas manage toward overall division and region/group objectives.  Leads the development and implementation of lending strategies, policies and goals, including budget in coordination with other division and region/group management.
  • Manages sales development efforts; approves sales goals and policies that will ensure annual revenue and profitability goals are met.  Evaluates results on an ongoing basis to ensure sales efforts remain on budget.  Coordinates customer retention efforts; establishes cross sell goals for existing customers.
  • Leads lending group financial analysis and credit decision process, resulting in decisions based on established Company policy and sound lending practice.  Makes business cases and appropriate recommendations regarding new business opportunities, credit worthiness and the extension of credit.  Ensures involvement of necessary lending, credit and commercial management personnel.  Serves as member of various lending committees. 
  • Develops and maintains strong business relationships with other participating financial institutions for shared credits.  Directs any necessary negotiations with participating companies and outside legal and other professionals as needed to structure overall financing packages.  Ensures favorable arrangements are negotiated and that responsibilities and level of participation among partnering companies are finalized.
  • Takes active personal role in sales development efforts, particularly for largest, most complex prospects and customers.  Maintains wide network of referral sources.  Gathers information, performs analyses, makes credit decisions through group process, negotiates terms and closes sales.
  • Coordinates portfolio management, ensuring accounts are administered according to terms and agreements, Company policies and legal and regulatory guidelines.  Ensures accounts remain current, involving collections and workout personnel as needed.
