The Department of Community Health and Family Medicine (CHFM) is looking for a Family Medicine Physician to join our team to serve as the joint Medical Director at the newly opened Eastside Urgent Care Center and UFHealth Family Medicine Cornerstone Practice, located in Gainesville, Florida! This is a full-time, non-tenure accruing position. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications.
Clinical Duties:
- Provide direct, comprehensive care as a Family Medicine Physician at UF Health Eastside Urgent Care Center and/or the UFHealth Family Medicine Cornerstone Practice, with a focus on managing the health of an all-ages population.
- Lead in a patient-centered care model, ensuring high-quality care while fostering a collaborative, interdisciplinary team approach.
- Engage in community-focused healthcare efforts to address healthcare disparities and promote holistic well-being for the East Gainesville community.
- Work alongside ARNPs and PAs, providing supervision and collaboration to optimize patient outcomes.
Medical Director Duties:
- Lead the patient care team, collaborating with clinic leadership to ensure efficient, high-quality operations.
- Work with the practice manager to develop the budget and improve clinic processes.
- Foster a positive, professional work environment with strong communication and teamwork.
- Participate in staff and provider meetings to address concerns and implement improvements.
- Ensure safe and effective clinic operations for patients, staff, and physicians.
- Serve as a liaison between the clinic and key leadership to support operations and resolve issues.
- Optimize billing and reimbursement processes in collaboration with Accounts Receivable.
- Keep leadership informed on practice updates, challenges, and initiatives.
- Attend medical director and provider meetings, contributing to committees and task forces as needed.
- Oversee daily clinical operations, supervising providers and the practice manager to maintain high patient care standards.
About the Opportunity:
- Physicians will lead a dedicated team providing urgent care services to patients of all ages. The initiative emphasizes integrating urgent care with continuity of care for underserved patients by connecting them to other community services, including our Family Medicine Clinics, the UF Mobile Outreach Clinic, and the medical student-run Equal Access Clinic.
- Oversee the launch of a brand-new primary care clinic: UFHealth Family Medicine Cornerstone
- Conduct thorough physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to document patient encounters accurately.
