HII scientists and engineers provides the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) with innovative and affordable technology solutions for reconnaissance, intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, communications, fire control, guidance, and threat engagement across the full spectrum of the battlefield. These efforts focus on advanced electronic technologies for integration into military systems and utilization of analog and digital signal processing to enhance the lethality, survivability, and mobility of tactical forces.
We are seeking a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) / Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Embedded Developer (RF Engineer) to support our work in the development of Software Defined Radios (SDR) and embedded sensor systems. The Developer applies advanced DSP/FPGA concepts, and research techniques during the investigation of highly complex and advanced technical problems on the forefront of emerging DSP and Electronic Warfare (EW) technologies. In addition, you will participate in the planning and execution through all phases of assigned Research and Development projects. The DSP/FPGA Embedded Developer works directly with senior technical personnel, program managers, and external organizations in the planning, oversight, execution, evaluation, and validation of complex designs and algorithms.

Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!
• Design, develop, document, test, and debug DSP/FPGA architectures, applications software, and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
• Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with designers and/or engineers in the planning, designing, development, and utilization of DSP/FPGA architectures for prototype sensor systems.
• Develop project requirements, analyze system capabilities, and troubleshoot algorithms and designs.
• Utilize development and documentation toolsets such as Git and Sphinx.
• Manage distributed processing and communications across local and wide-area networks.
• Develop digital signal and information processing algorithms.
Requirements: I have already done that or have it!
• 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors or 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years’ experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
• Experience with DSP/FPGA/SDR toolsets.
• Experience with DSP/FPGA/SDR-based design.
• Experience with any of the following: C, C++, Python, MATLAB.
Preferred Requirements
Understanding of:
• C/C++, especially with embedded systems.
• MATLAB and/or Python for interactive analysis of very large datasets (multi-GB to TB).
• Linux scripting and Linux-base database interaction and schema design.
• Adaptive optimization of network communications and CPU resources.
• Code modularity, efficiency, and robust API development.
• Statistical analysis and classification methods/algorithms.
