POSITION OVERVIEW
dormakaba is seeking a Mechanical Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) Engineer based in Indianapolis, IN. The Mechanical VA/VE Engineer is responsible for optimizing the value of our company products for the cost required to achieve those values. This individual will work closely with the Design Teams to ensure function and intent are understood and maintained and then apply creative thinking and problem-solving skills to achieve uncommon results.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: Base Salary $70,000 - $90,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Please visit our career site for more information on benefits.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
· Work independently and with peers to understand product design and design intent through study & understanding of 3D Component and Assembly models and 2D technical drawings
· Ensure product integrity is maintained with proper understanding of compliance standards and potential product failure modes
· Identify and mitigate technical and design risks in each assignment with a strong understanding of Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
· Monitor and report project status and develop contingency plans to ensure that product development tasks are completed within time and budget constraints
· Lead and ensure proper execution on all engineering milestones and phase deliverables
· Perform calculations and/or use computer analysis software to develop, analyze, and refine product models and design concepts
WHAT WE REQUIRE
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
· 1+ years of working experience in engineering
· Proficient in 3D CAD modeling (CREO preferred) and 2D drawing creation
· Comprehension of kinematics, statics, dynamics, stress analysis, properties of materials, and mechanism design
· Ability to perform 2D tolerance stack-up analysis
· Working knowledge of CAD Data Management systems (Windchill preferred)
· General knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes (e.g.: zinc diecast, brass investment casting, sheet metal stamping, etc.)
WHAT WE PREFER
· Master’s degree in related field
· 3+ years’ work experience in engineering
· Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
· Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems
