Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an IMMEDIATE opening for a Utilities Operations Technician at our La Porte, TX facility.
The Air Products La Porte Facility is a large multi-unit, multi-product facility supplying the following in various delivery methods: Hydrogen, Carbon Monoxide, Steam, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, and Xenon. This is a 12-hour shift position that works a daytime rotating shift. You will report to the Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities:
- Gaseous product trailer loading
- Controlling, monitoring and troubleshooting the processes for loading trailers (e.g. DCS operation, alarm response, leak identification and mitigation)
- Product quality conformance and documentation
- Chemical handling and inventory management
- Maintain water chemistry for multiple process systems
- Calibrate and operate multiple analyzers
- Sampling and analyzing water outfalls
- Support unit operators as necessary
- Operate forklift or other equipment as required
- Issue safety work permits and performs lock out / tag out of various utility equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks, safety inspections and plant log readings
- Maintain online and in-person training program requirements
- Inspect all work areas on a continuous basis for any mechanical problems, safety hazards and unusual operating conditions. Keep work and storage areas in a safe, clean and orderly condition
- Ensure that all plant safety, health, environmental and quality procedures are followed
- Attend and contribute to monthly safety meetings
- Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures as required
- Dedication to Operational Perfection with a focus on safe and reliable operation
Qualifications / Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in operations, maintenance, or monitoring of industrial process plants and/or their utilities.
- Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings
- Military experience or a Process Technology certificate or degree is a plus
- Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience is a plus
- Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Teammate that is flexible and has a positive demeanor
- Desire and ability to work in a team environment
- Dedication to safety, integrity and continuous improvement
- Valid and clean driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
- Work 12 hour rotating day shifts including weekends
- Meet rotating call-in requirements as needed
- Climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Elevated work required
- Work in all weather conditions
Technical School Graduates: Students with a background in Industrial Systems, Machine Tool Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Automotive Technology, HVAC, Process Technology, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation Technology are encouraged to apply.
