The DMTA Production Shift Supervisor, reporting to the Production Execution Manager, supports all DMTA production teams, working with all shift Production Technicians to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient day-to-day operation of the DMTA Unit. The Shift Supervisor will provide consistency amongst the shift teams to complete a broad range of day-to-day production responsibilities. This person will be a visible participant in the coordination and supervision of all operations activities within the DMTA Unit in coordination with Supply Chain, Maintenance, Projects, Reliability, Technology, etc. When necessary, the day shift supervisor can act as a relief supervisor for any of the four production shift supervisors.
During your 12-hour rotating shift as a Production Shift Supervisor, you will
- Your familiarity with industry environmental, safety, and health standards procedures and policies, as well as those for the site and the plant will aid you in seeking compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, promote a safe working environment, and ensure accountability of shift personnel for safety performance.
- You will drive consistency and accountability across shifts regarding procedures and performance standards, assist with onboarding of new day staff and testing of new technicians, and function as a liaison with service groups and outside contractors to ensure that unit expectations are clear and that work is accomplished correctly, promptly, and cost effectively.
- Leveraging your operational and/or maintenance experience, you will coordinate, communicate, and monitor daily operations activities across the shifts, provide daily operating instructions, and provide conflict management as required. Additionally, you will ensure consistency and accountability on shift regarding discipline, procedures, and grievances.
- Demonstrating your understanding of equipment and overall plant manufacturing processes, including operational procedures and operator training requirements, you will drive operational discipline across the operations organization, ensure that available human resources are used efficiently to achieve work-life balance targets (such as reduced overtime), and prepare detailed plans for operational changes such as startups, shutdowns, product changes, plant tests, etc
- Providing maintenance support, you will ensure troubleshooting by Operations prior to Maintenance involvement, review work notifications, provide feedback to notification writers when the notification is entered with inadequate scope, and communicate the maintenance schedule and equipment isolation requirements to operations. Also responsible for ensuring and communicating equipment preparation and readiness for maintenance.
- Your focus on efficiency will be a valued asset as you participate in the optimization of scheduled and unscheduled downtime, assist in the coordination, planning and execution of inspections and shutdown / turnaround work (including maintenance and capital activities)
- Your solid communication and interpersonal skills will serve you well as you lead contact supervisors and operators in daily shift discussions to review safety messages, communicate work assignments, review production status & priorities and attend the Daily Operations Team meetings. You will serve as a main contact for outside vendors and coordinate and communicate non-routine activities and staffing requirements to shift supervisors.
If you...
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in Operations of a Chemical Plant and Plant Operations
- SAP familiarity
- Strong leadership skills required to direct technicians to produce quality chemicals in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Strong coaching skills required to develop Production Technician’s understanding of the chemical plant operation and to grow their understanding of technical and business issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills are required to interface with all levels of the organization, including contractors and vendors.
- Be able to work rotatating days, nights, weekends, holidays
