Principal Engineer, AI and Data Platform

Data & AI is at the center of everything we do at Coupang.  It helps power all aspects of Coupang including search ranking & relevance, price products and services, streamline logistics and delivery, optimize content for streaming, and much more. Coupang AI+Data Platform team is a dynamic and innovative group whose mission is to deliver data platform services securely, reliably and efficiently to all the data stakeholders including the C-suite executives, ML engineers, Business Analysts and Data Engineers.  

The AI and Data Platform team develops and manages services to ingest raw data structured and unstructured into the data lake, cleanse/transform the data, and make it available to MLEs, BA, and data engineers across all our Coupang. It is also responsible for the core data sets that serve the key businesses. Finally, the experimentation platform enables engineers within Coupang to rapidly do A/B testing to make product decisions. Qualifications 

• BS, MS, or PhD degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience 

• 10+ years of experience 

• Deep understanding of Data infrastructure and how enterprises use data.  

• Data modeling skills and understanding of the eCommerce domain highly desirable.  

• Knowledge of data query and data processing tools (i.e. SQL) 

• Knowledgeable with Data Science tools and frameworks. Understand machine learning principles (training, validation, etc.) 

• Knowledge of experimentation methodologies, such as A/B testing, multivariate testing, and statistical analysis 

• Computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, performance complexity, and implications of computer architecture on software performance (e.g., I/O and memory tuning) 

• Software engineering fundamentals: version control systems (i.e Git, Github) and workflows, and ability to write production-ready code 

• Experience deploying highly scalable software supporting millions or more users 

• Experience with integrating applications and platforms with cloud technologies (i.e AWS and GCP) 

• Strong oral and written communication skills 

• Ability to conduct meetings and make professional presentations, and to explain complex concepts and technical material to non-technical users
