Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy Development:
- Own and drive the development of a comprehensive AI strategy focused on Generative AI to enhance manufacturing processes and operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivering measurable business results.
- Identify opportunities for AI integration to improve productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams to collaboratively develop and execute AI strategies, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Implementation Planning and Pilot Program Support:
- Design detailed implementation plans for AI solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and manufacturing needs.
- Support the initiation and execution of pilot programs to test and validate AI solutions in real-world manufacturing environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of AI technologies into existing systems.
- Analyze pilot program results to provide insights and recommendations for refining strategies and scaling successful initiatives.
- Technology Expertise:
- Keep up with the latest AI and machine learning advancements, and assess new tools and trends from vendors and startups to adopt useful solutions.
- Recommend appropriate AI tools and platforms to support strategic objectives.
- Coach and mentor team members and other stakeholders in understanding and applying AI technologies effectively.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with senior leadership to communicate AI strategies and gain buy-in for proposed initiatives.
- Provide insights and recommendations to manufacturing teams to facilitate the adoption of AI technologies.
- Champion data-driven decision-making throughout teams, guiding best practices and providing actionable insights from data analytics.
- Compliance and Risk Assessment:
- Identify potential risks associated with AI implementation and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with 3M standards as well as industry standards and regulations related to AI and data usage.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Data Science, or Computer Science, (completed and verified prior to start)
- Fifteen (15) years of experience in manufacturing with an understanding of manufacturing data systems in a private, public, government or military environment
- Five (5) years of experience in implementing AI and data analysis solutions in manufacturing settings
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Seven (7) years of experience in implementing AI and data analysis solutions in manufacturing settings, with a preference for commercial tools.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science from an accredited institution
- Familiarity with both established AI vendors and emerging tools from startups in the manufacturing sector.
- Solid understanding of current AI technologies and curiosity about future AI technologies.
- Ability to evaluate, test, and implement AI and data solutions through pilot programs.
- Proven team leadership.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to distill complex manufacturing data into actionable AI-driven insights.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
