What we offer: 

· Salary: $60,000 - $65,000

Job Functions:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring compliance with internal controls and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts receivable:
  1. Ensure that cash receipts are entered accurately and timely. 
  2. Ensure that customer invoices are processed accurately and timely.
  3. Review A/R aging report monthly for accuracy, past due amounts, and days of open invoices. Work with A/R staff and department staff to resolve discrepancies. Prepare adjusting entries for any discrepancies.
  • Manage Accounts Payable:
  1. Ensure that vendor invoices are coded correctly and processed timely. 
  2. Reviewing A/P invoice batches selected for payment. 
  3. Prepare NACHA file once check run is approved. 
  4. Prepare and upload Positive Pay file to bank after each check run. Ensure compliance with organizational and accounting standards.
  5. Review A/P aging report monthly for accuracy, past due amounts, and days of open old balances. Work with A/P staff to resolve discrepancies. Create adjusting entries for any discrepancies.
  6. Prepare and review Form 1099’s reports for accuracy and completeness to ensure timely review and e-file by the Assistant Controller.
  7. Create and maintain vendor records. Ensure that vendor records are accurate and complete.
  • Payroll:
  1. Manage and process Expense reports in Concur.
  2. Serve as backup for payroll processing as needed.
  • Review and upload credit card transactions to the financial system. Reconcile all credit card statements monthly.
  • Manage general ledger and assist with month-end and year-end close processes. Prepare journal entries as assigned.
  • Maintain a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounts payable and receivable. Review with Accounting Manager quarterly.
  • Assist with the annual external audit. Prepare requested materials. Assist the Accounting Manager with the preparation of assigned schedules.
  • Support the Holiday Center Operation as directed.
  • Support the team in other tasks as assigned.
  • Meets personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals.  

Requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required with at least 3-5 years’ experience in high volume and fast-paced environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals. Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner. Knowledge of community resources available to homeless population.
