- Specifically, this individual supports the communications needs of the Corporate Real Estate organization, shaping and executing timely, clear and strategic communications initiatives for the team that represents American’s corporate interests as they relate to the construction of facilities and obtaining facilities for our operation through negotiations with airports, government entities, and other airlines’ properties representatives.
- The role will report to the Manager of Communications and Public Affairs in the Washington Office and work closely with the Corporate Real Estate and Global Government Affairs teams.

- Assist the Manager and Director of Global Communications and Public Affairs in developing and executing external and internal communications strategies to achieve our Corporate Real Estate and public affairs goals, as well as on state and local issues.
- Work collaboratively with the American Global Engagement team to engage state and local media and stakeholders; handle media on site at events.
- Support rapid response and crisis communications.
- Draft content for an array of audiences and platforms, especially for team members to help manage projects and communicate our priorities internally and externally.
- Strengthen understanding of business decisions and operational changes by supporting comprehensive communications plans, executive messaging, media materials, process guides and stories that highlight the impact and importance of the Corporate Real Estate team within the broader American narrative.
- Maintain a communications calendar of announcements while tracking communications work products to ensure alignment, visibility, and on-time delivery.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of Corporate Real Estate work, American’s overall operation, business practices and the broader airline industry.
- Work on real-time business issues with tight deadlines. Uphold the integrity of the Global Engagement team by developing and maintaining strong relationships with leaders across the company.
- Provide support and content for other company channels as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, 24/7 environment to help lead American's communications effort.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/training.
- 3 years of relevant work experience in communications or media relations.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in aviation and the commercial airline industry.
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- 5 years of relevant work experience in communications or media relations.
- Experience working in corporate communications or media relations for a large, multi-national organization.
