Position Overview:

This position is accountable for assisting with the management and direction of the department’s fleet and motor pool operations. This position assists with the administration of the department’s central motor pool activities at the Hanley Building through monitoring reservations, assigning vehicles, maintaining files of trip tickets and invoices, data entry, and conducting the motor pool inventory.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in directing the department’s daily motor pool activities.
  • Ensures the maintenance of all state-owned vehicles at the Hanley Building.
  • Assists the vehicle coordinator with licensing, titling, data entry, and obtaining/managing fuel credit cards for the statewide fleet.
  • Assists with delivering vehicles to various locations.
  • Assists with the verification and approval of billings from the Department of Central Management Services and various vendors.
  • Performs inventory control operations for the motor pool.
  • Assists with the Local Units of Government (LUG) sale.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or communication, OR completion of two years of college, PLUS one year of experience performing quality control and/or technical duties in a transportation and/or fleet environment, OR five years of experience performing quality control and/or technical duties in a transportation and/or fleet environment. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of a fleet or motor pool operation.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with employees, agency officials, and the public.

Conditions of Employment

  • Consistent local and occasional statewide travel to pick-up or drop-off vehicles.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.
