Job Summary:
The Effector RF and Communications (ERFC) Department is seeking current college students for an RF Electrical Design internship position to work with a variety of programs as a contributor to detailed design, simulation, product development, and initial product testing. The successful candidate will have educational experience and professional interest designing RF and Microwave hardware, including transmitters, receivers, and exciters. This role includes design and test activities that span preliminary design to integration. Products we develop support radar and datalink applications on a variety of tactical missile programs. Critical to this role will be designing for challenging mechanical constraints and extreme environments.
All Candidates will work within a larger team at Raytheon. Interns perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects, and will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to “shadow” experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.
This position is located in Tucson, AZ and is an on-site role.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Supporting design and development of transmitters, receivers or exciters.
Experience designing and optimizing RF circuits – either chains of components (receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.)
Working in a lab to accomplish component characterization as well as module verification and integration
Testing and handling sensitive RF Hardware.
Supporting design of circuit and assemblies (CCAs) with RF or mixed signals.
Working with interdisciplinary teams – power, digital, mechanical, etc.
Schematic capture and detailed design.
This position can be a Junior, Senior or Post Graduate Technical Intern based on the candidate's classification as determined by grad year on resume and provided via questionnaire by candidate as outlined below:
(Freshman Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
(Sophomore Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
(Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
(Senior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
(Post-Graduate Technical Intern)- must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a Junior, Senior or Post-Graduate by the start of Summer 2024 in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) degree.
Electronics and electromagnetics coursework.
Analog or RF design coursework.
Laboratory experience with electronics.
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
ABET is the preferred, although not required accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desired.
Solid background and practical understanding of RF electronics design considerations (to include experience or relevant course work).
Experience with any of the following tools: Mentor Xpedition xDX Designer, System Vision, MATLAB, MathCad, Computer Simulation Technologies (CST), Microwave Design Studio, High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and Advanced Design System (ADS).
