Selective Insurance is seeking a Property Field Claims Specialist for the Davenport, IA (Quad Cities) area. This is a remote position, but the ideal candidate will reside in or near this area.
In this role, you will deliver superior service and exceptional quality while balancing customer expectations with sincerity and respect. You will manage the process from end to end by investigating property and inland marine claims (generally with dollar exposures of $10,000 to $100,000), reviewing applicable coverage, selecting and utilizing experts as needed, obtaining appropriate claim documentation, estimating property damages, establishing appropriate reserves, and determining an accurate settlement within the prescribed authority and standards of performance. This is a remote position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Fast-paced field environment with frequent face-to-face, customer interaction
- Ability to traverse ladders, roofs, crawl spaces, and damaged property
- Typically inspects multiple losses per day requiring car travel between locations
- Evaluates and settles property-related damages (primarily) between $10,000 and $100,000 (aggregate); occasionally handles losses that exceed $100,000 in aggregate claim value
- Handles typical Business Income losses
- Acts as initial responder for catastrophic claim events within the various regions; this may require significant travel time
- Responsible for all coverage determinations, negotiations, reserving and settlement within established authority
- Provides support and guidance to regional CMS team
- Responds to all legal, regulatory or appeals situations or requests
- All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Job Qualifications:
- Must have the ability to travel as needed
- Have knowledge of and proficiency in standard business and claim-specific computer software programs and the ability to keyboard in an efficient and productive manner
- College degree preferred
- Prefer 5 years property claims experience, thorough knowledge of Commercial and Personal Lines coverages, and computer-based damage estimating
- Must possess certification(s) identified as acceptable in Selective’s Claims Certification Policy or willingness to achieve certification
- Must maintain appropriate Claims Adjuster Licenses per state requirements
