We are recruiting for a mission-driven Coordinator, Nursing Administration to join our team!
Under minimal supervision, the Administrative Clinical Coordinator (ACC) coordinates complex administrative and clinical barriers on campus (inpatient and outpatient) within the operations of Hospital Services on a cross-departmental basis. This role serves as the operational resource for nursing on an assigned shift, functioning as the senior on-site clinical and administrative authority in the absence of other departmental leadership. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Patient Flow, Clinical Staffing, Regulatory Issues, Disaster Response, Employee Health, Emergency Management, Descendent Affairs, Risk Management, Safety, Security, Patient Representative / Social Services, Nutrition Service, Physician Relations, Human Resources, and Community Health Services. Essential Functions:
- Hospital-Wide Operations & Coordination Functions as the on-site clinical and administrative support, directing hospital day to day operations. Functioning as a liason for all departments nursing and ancillary departments, assesses and resolves complex operational, clinical, and interpersonal issues, utilizing sound judgment, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention. Interprets and applies hospital policies and procedures in real time; provides guidance to staff, charge nurses, and providers. Serves as the central point of coordination for hospital-wide communication, ensuring timely and accurate information flow across leadership, departments, and support services. Responds to provider concerns and operational issues, facilitating resolution or escalating appropriately. Synthesizes and communicates critical operational updates, including participation in Daily Patient Safety Briefings. (25%)
- Patient Flow & Capacity Management Directs patient placement and throughput in collaboration with admitting providers, charge nurses, and care teams, ensuring alignment with patient acuity, staffing, and unit capabilities. Makes real-time bed assignment and transfer decisions to optimize capacity and maintain safe patient flow. Proactively identifies and mitigates barriers to throughput, including Emergency Department boarding and diversion risk. Leads bed huddles and coordinates staffing plans for upcoming shifts, adjusting resources based on census and acuity. Maintains accurate documentation in staffing and scheduling systems to support operational and payroll integrity. (20%)
- Staff Support, After-Hours Leadership & Escalation Provides real-time leadership support to clinical staff across the organization, particularly during off-shifts when unit leadership is not present. Rounds on units to assess staffing, identify operational concerns, and support care team needs. Addresses immediate staff concerns related to patient care, safety, and conduct; intervenes as needed to maintain operational integrity. Serves as the escalation point for charge nurses, guiding complex clinical and operational decision-making. Documents and escalates concerns to appropriate leadership in a timely manner. (15%)
- Clinical Assessment & Crisis Response Responds to emergent clinical situations, including rapid patient deterioration and code events, ensuring appropriate coordination and escalation. Applies advanced clinical judgment to assess and support patients across multiple care settings and acuity levels. Partners with bedside staff to stabilize patients, guide clinical decision-making, and ensure appropriate level of care. (15%)
- Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management & Patient Safety Ensures adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accrediting body requirements. Identifies, responds to, and escalates safety events, near-misses, and operational risks. Leads service recovery efforts by addressing patient and family concerns in the absence of unit leadership. Collaborates with Risk Management, Patient Relations, and other departments to resolve issues and ensure proper documentation. (10%)
- Disaster & Emergency Management Supports activation and coordination of hospital emergency and disaster response plans. Communicates real-time situational updates and collaborates with Emergency Management, Security, and leadership during events. (10%)
