Physician Practice Lead – Radiation Oncology

TMH Cancer Center

Position Summary

The Physician Practice Lead for the Radiation Oncology practice at the TMH Cancer Center is responsible for providing daily supervision and operational oversight of the Front Office team. This role ensures high-quality customer service, accurate patient registration and billing processes, effective workflow management within EPIC, and seamless support for clinical operations. The Physician Practice Lead serves as a resource for staff, promotes efficient work practices, and supports the overall patient experience within Radiation Oncology.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Front Office Supervision & Staff Support

• Provide daily supervision of Front Office staff within the Radiation Oncology practice.
• Ensure all colleagues are adequately trained and competent to perform assigned duties.
• Serve as a problem‑solving resource to staff, offering guidance and support.
• Monitor workload distribution and adjust as needed to maintain efficient operations.
• Prepare and maintain clerical work schedules.

Customer Service & Patient Experience

• Promote and support excellent customer relations with patients, families, providers, and colleagues.
• Serve as the first-tier contact for billing inquiries, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
• Ensure new patients receive timely scheduling and assistance with clinic appointments.

Financial & Billing Oversight

• Perform daily cash drawer reconciliation.
• Supervise the daily deposit process.
• Verify payments, postings, hospital and provider co-pays, and daily deposit accuracy.
• Ensure accurate and complete billing information is captured and communicated.

Authorization & Scheduling Coordination

• Oversee new patient scheduling and clinic appointment coordination.
• Manage authorizations for:
  • Consultations
  • Re-evaluations
  • Follow-up visits
  • Radiation treatments (Professional & Technical charges)

EPIC Workqueue (WQ) Management

Manage and monitor multiple Radiation Oncology workqueues (Professional and Technical), including but not limited to:

• Rad Onc Referrals
• Rad Onc Pre-Reg Missing Items for Appointments
• Rad Onc Pre-Access – Radiation Treatment Auth Needed
• Rad Onc Upcoming Appointments Missing Authorization
• Rad Onc PB & HB Claim Registration Errors
• Rad Onc Claim Edit – TMH PB Claim Registration Errors (Workers Comp & TPL)
• Rad Onc TMH Registration Errors (DYAD billing errors)
• Rad Onc Claim Edit – TMH Authorization Errors (Pre-Access)
• Rad Onc TMH Oncology Appointment Requests – Main Appointment Request WQ
• Rad Onc Charge Review PB – TMH Registration Review
• Rad Onc TMH HB – Patient Access Review Needed (DYAD)

 

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY

Required Education:

High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

 

Required Experience:

REQUIRED: Three (3) years of healthcare business management/supervision experience.

• Experience in medical office operations, patient access, or healthcare administration.
• Knowledge of EPIC (particularly workqueue management).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience in Radiation Oncology or specialty practices preferred.
