We are seeking an experienced finance/accounting manager to join our team. This is a hybrid/in office position based in our Miami, FL office. As Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, Compensation and Benefits Accounting you’ll lead the accounting teams responsible for booking, reconciling and financial reporting Compensation and Benefits expenses, G&A and A&P expenses as well as cash related transactions, and ensure that there is collaboration with financial teams to ensure the accurate and timely completion of month-end close activities, including journal entry postings, reconciliations, variance analysis and participation in month-end review meetings. Finally, you’ll drive improvement initiatives to develop streamlined processes to maximize efficiencies of the teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to the Corporate Accounting team on accounting for Advertising and Promotion as well as General and Administrative expenses, including treatment of accruals, prepaids, deposits, etc.  Encourage collaboration between own department and operators and FP&A.
  • Oversee Compensation and Benefits accounting team; provide guidance when needed on items related to shoreside and shipboard payroll accounting transactions, as well as benefits related transactions (medical insurance, P&I).
  • Oversee and manage month-end close activities including accurate and timely preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, variance explanations and other close schedules.
  • Lead own teams in ensuring that all processes are in accordance with GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
  • Provide analytical support when dealing with accounting issues or questions as well as other ad hoc requests/special projects.
  • Work with GARS, RAAS, Carnival Corp Accounting (former ABG), external auditors and management on all matters related to financial accuracy and analysis of financial statements or a subset of the financial statements.
  • Provide analytical support to the Finance team for annual budget and quarterly forecasts processes,
  • Continuously work on process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness of related business processes and understand and address inherent compliance/control risks.
  • Engage and communicate with all levels of management and cross functional teams.
  • Lead and develop highly skilled team through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning across teams and disciplines.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. CPA certification highly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in private/public accounting (preferably with a Big 4 firm), auditing and financial reporting and 5 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues and tailor messages to the audience. Must be able to interact with all levels of management.
  • Must possess strong quantitative and analytical skills combined with solid business and financial acumen. 
  • Must have good understanding of consolidations and inter/intra company processes.
  • Must have a strong understanding of GAAP, corporate accounting policies and a general understanding of computerized accounting systems and the associated control environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of process improvements and desire to implement best practices.
  • Charismatic, dynamic leader and effective manager, who leads by example and will mentor a team to meet high profile and dynamic objectives.
  • Must be an excellent team player who possesses solid interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt in a flexible, fast-paced work environment.
  • Flexible, “special-projects” orientation coupled with solid multi-tasking abilities.
  • Strong relationship building skills and a highly professional “client service orientation”.

This is a hybrid/in office position, based in our Miami, FL office. Candidates must be comfortable coming into the office 3 days/week (currently Tuesday-Thursday).
