About the role

Job Description

As the Mechanical Planner, you will be responsible to process maintenance job requests and generate work orders and job plans to allow proper scheduling and efficient execution of the job by the maintenance work force.

Support ESH Compliance

  • Promote good safety/housekeeping standards.
  • Complete all required ES&H training.
  • Comply with all ES&H regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with ISO/cGMP/HACCP/Food Safety requirements.
  • Participate in plant audits (food safety, ISO, ESH, etc.).
  • Participate in ES&H project safety reviews.
  • Conduct contractor safety orientation training for planned jobs.
  • Assure contractors utilized are qualified and meet ICL safety programs.
  • Identify safety concerns/issues with all planned work.
  • Prioritize completion of Safety, CTSH and CTQ work orders.
  • Support and participate in HOP system.


Process Work Orders

  • Scope work request and develop detailed job plans.
  • Convert work notifications into work orders.
  • Estimate time and resources required.
  • Work with BUL’S and Maintenance lead to populate maintenance schedule.
  • Identify and verify correct field identification numbers.
  • Solicit engineering analysis and support, if needed.
  • Create, maintain, and review PMs in SAP
  • Maintain and update work request and work order backlog.
  • File and maintain work order history


Order parts

  • Identify vendors and obtain competitive quotes, as required.
  • Fill out parts and service requisitions.
  • Receive parts from stores and stage.
  • Return parts.
  • Set-up/modify Stores item/order information, as needed.
  • Manage procurement card and expenses


Create Job Plan

  • Research equipment history.
  • Identify safety permits, safety equipment, and PPE.
  • Follow-up on any safety issues relating to work orders.
  • Compliance with all ES&H and Engineering standards.
  • Identify tools and equipment needed for the job.
  • List parts / materials for the job.
  • Identify equipment disconnect locations.
  • Identify pre and post shutdown work.
  • List job steps and specifications.
  • Identify manpower needs.
  • Add completed job plan to schedule.
  • Record history.
  • Review completed jobs and update work plans and forms, if needed.

General Plant Responsibilities 

  • Support/perform training, as needed, for maintenance resources.   
  • Maintain and update plant equipment documentation, as needed. 
  • Communicate daily with Maintenance Leader, Business Unit Leaders (BULs), and any other functions involved in job plans.
  • Assist in development of outage plans.
  • Support drive for continuous improvement of plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Updated KPIs (key performance indicator) metrics weekly and monthly
  • Support plant PdM/PM Program
  • Manage contractors/projects, including selection, qualification, training, job oversight, invoicing, and work order/project closure.
  • Backup in Maintenance supervisors’ absence


What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role? 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and experience are required.
  • Mechanical knowledge and experience across multiple industrial applications is highly desired.
  • Three or more years maintenance experience. Maintenance supervisory is a plus.
  • Communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities 
  • Basic knowledge of all crafts and craft methods, all plant systems, layouts and unit interaction, and all safety procedures and requirements 
  • Labor relations and/or supervisor skills desirable.
  • Maintenance planning software experience (i.e. SAP) is preferred.
  • Electrical experience/knowledge is a plus.
  • Team-oriented with skills to execute change and improvement efforts. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and self-direction and accountability.
  • Ability to safely exit the plant in the event of an emergency


Compensation at ICL: If you are hired at ICL, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. We also offer a generous benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).


Salary Range: $72,000 - $99,000 


Annual Bonus Target: 5%, subject to plan provisions.
