Description
***This position is a HYBRID role and will require candidates to live within 1 hour of Hanahan, SC. The on site expectation is 1 day per week on site with other days possible as needed. This position requires a SECRET or higher security clearance.***
NexGen Data Systems is currently hiring a Senior Windows Server Administrator. The Senior Windows Server Administrator will entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring strict adherence to security policies and organizational values in all aspects related to Data Center, operating systems, software systems, and associated procedures. This role demands a robust technical skill set, encompassing the ability to contribute to the design, implementation, and documentation of Microsoft Windows operating systems. Furthermore, it entails proficiency in various technological domains, including virtualization, networking, application configuration, and seamless integration with other critical components of data center infrastructure such as databases, SANs, and monitoring software. The ideal candidate should exhibit a desire for learning emerging technologies, and must not confine their expertise solely to Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversight of a Windows Server 2019/2016 domain spanning multiple geographical locations, with an emphasis on sustaining uninterrupted operations.
- Provide on-site installation support by meticulously adhering to application configuration guidelines and implementation plans, ensuring the seamless configuration of system applications during installation, configuration, testing, scanning, software updates, patching, and resolution of trouble tickets.
- Installation, configuration, upgrading, and maintenance of Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2016 environments.
- Deployment of technical Subject Matter Expertise (SME) across system and Joint C4I systems and programs, aligning with industry best practices.
- Conducting daily system monitoring, encompassing the verification of hardware and server resource integrity, system functionality, and essential processes. This includes a thorough review of system and application logs and verification of scheduled job completions such as backups.
- Execution of regular security monitoring to promptly identify and address any potential security intrusions.
- Regular application of OS patches and upgrades, along with administrative tool and utility enhancements and configurations of new services as deemed necessary.
- Pioneering the conception of innovative solutions aimed at enhancing domain functionality.
- Periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning and the implementation of ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization measures as required, including the configuration of CPU, memory, and disk partitions to meet operational demands.
- Support systems engineering planning, architectural analysis, trade analysis, systems design, and sustainment activities, particularly for customer systems.
- Utilize Active Directory Domain services for Windows Server 2019/2016, encompassing domain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and domain administration.
- Provide comprehensive testing and evaluation support, including technical contributions to test request forms and IV&V (Independent Verification and Validation) test plans.
- Actively participate in and support testing and evaluation events.
- Offers Tier III and other support services in response to requests from various stakeholders, with a focus on meticulous issue investigation and troubleshooting.
- Maintenance of operational procedures, configuration records, and other essential documentation.

Requirements
Desired/Required Skills:
- 8+ years’ experience with Windows server (2003, 2008, 2012) platforms.
- 8+ years’ experience with Windows Security Templates, Configuration and Analysis.
- 8+ years’ experience with Windows Active Directory including Group Policy Object (GPO) usage.
- Demonstrated proficiency as a self-initiating professional with a track record of successful infrastructure design, administration, and leadership, particularly in roles of high visibility.
