Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life Risk Management, Health, & Well-Being. - Boca Raton, FL.

The Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life Management, Health, & Well-Being provides leadership in advancing a safe, healthy, and values-driven fraternity and sorority community at Florida Atlantic University. Reporting to the Director, this position plays a critical role in the strategic management of Fraternity and Sorority Life by overseeing risk management, health promotion, and well-being education initiatives while supporting student leadership development and organizational accountability.

Summary of responsibilities:

Risk Management, Health, and Well-being Programming and Training:

  • Oversee, implement, and assess health and safety initiatives, including risk reduction, hazing prevention, and event management education. These initiatives include health and safety summits, bystander intervention, sober monitor training, hazing prevention training, and the Peer Facilitator program.

  • Lead the implementation and evaluation of health promotion programs tailored for the sorority and fraternity community.

  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and support of professional and student staff, as well as volunteers. programming, curriculum, and training for leaders and members (i.e., advisors, officers, general membership, new members), risk management, health, and well-being, education, and organizational conduct.

  • Plan and oversee departmental projects and flagship programs to ensure timely completion, including resource planning, budgeting, monitoring progress, and stakeholder communication.

Supervision & Assessment:

  • Supervise a Coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Life and/or graduate assistants as assigned.

  • Provide staff evaluations, feedback, and professional development plans for direct reports.

  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for staff.

  • Assess and report on the effectiveness of FSL programs and initiatives.

Communication, Outreach, & Partnerships:

  • Monitor and track completion of Organization Fraternity & Sorority Life (OFSL) milestones, chapter-based requirements for good standing, and Register Student Organization (RSO) recognition processes in conjunction with the Department of Student Engagement. 

  • Serve as the primary resource for students, parents, faculty, and community partners regarding health and safety in fraternity and sorority life.

  • Advocate for student conduct and accountability processes related to organizational misconduct for resources and the continued development of sorority and fraternity life initiatives.

  • Serve on and chair select University Prevention Teams.

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with campus departments, national headquarters, and chapter advisors.

  • Serve as an advisor for one of the four councils recognized by FSL.

  • Serve as a chapter coach for a cluster of chapters across all four councils. Attend and engage with student organization meetings and programs to foster strong relationships and support student leaders. In the long term, it is to move to a chapter coaching model.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director with divisional initiatives within Student Affairs.

  • Represent FAU at regional and national conferences alongside students.

  • Oversee vendor registration and renewal for FSL-approved third-party vendors.

  • Lead training and development efforts for department and divisional professional staff.

  • Serve as a liaison to various university committees while ensuring programming and awareness initiatives are in place.

  • Interpret university policies and procedures for student leaders, council executive board members, chapter advisors, alumni, inter/nat
