Job Description
As the Senior Associate, Packaging Engineer you will be responsible for contributing to the technical development of new or revised packaging materials & products. You will work on qualifying new products/packages, line extensions, and leading technical tasks related to different business needs driven by organizational and market requirements. You will participate on cross-functional teams, providing technical expertise to ensure that the key project objectives are present, applicable and robust.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the packaging development of commercialization projects for the North America Region
Focus on growth, business continuity, sustainability and cost saving projects, following the technical processes and procedures in place
Make sure that technical deliverables are completed properly and on-time
Develop packaging to meet internal and external customer needs
Lead or participate in packaging or process improvement related workstreams
Support global RD&E for complex projects on primary pack development and qualification. Then localize and adopt primary pack according to North America needs
Collaborate with project manager and cross functional team to build project timeline, deliver key milestones and participate in project meetings accordingly
Develop new secondary packaging components
Perform lab tests to include product performance and distribution/warehousing tests for both primary & secondary package components
Generate robust packaging component specifications, finished good product specifications, bills of materials and pallet factors
Draft qualification plans for new packaging components, equipment modifications and site moves.
Plan and Perform line trials at both internal and external manufacturing sites
Drive the technical conversation and present on technical attributes at Regional Technical Reviews
Responsible for completing technical deliverables including BOM setup, validation test planning and specification reviews
Provide technical expertise and problem-solving skills to evaluate and correct package-related issues to maintain production schedules and product quality
Support risk identification/mitigation plans to achieve project objectives
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor’s Degree in packaging engineering, packaging science or related field of engineering disciplines (e.g. Mechanical, Materials,) and at least 1 years of relevant work experience
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Experience and technical competency in primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging design, and qualification (e.g., product/package compatibility, distribution/warehouse testing and manufacturing qualification)
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, including anticipation and communication of technical risks and mitigation plans
Strategic thinking and action to effectively navigate complex and/or ambiguous situations
Expertise in multiple packaging disciplines such as aerosols and liquids packaging, dispensing systems, materials, closures, manufacturing line requirements, plastic molding techniques, and/or product/environment compatibility
Knowledge of Ecommerce Packaging Design and Qualification.
Knowledge of US DOT Regulations related to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods
Knowledge of Special Packs and the Warehouse Club Class of Trade
Experience with any of the following support systems such as PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), Microsoft Office Suite, CAPE, Winshuttle and WebCenter
