Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation at White Oak seeks to hire a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.
As an Inpatient Rehab Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) you will:
•Provide the therapy intervention consistent with the results of the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care of the physical therapist and involve the patient/client and appropriate others in the planning and implementation of the plan of care. Communicate with the supervising physical therapist as necessary during an episode of care to evaluate progress or change in patient/client status, modify the plan of care accordingly or discontinue physical therapy services. (flexes to any Rehab site as needed).
•In consultation with appropriate disciplines and the physical therapist, assist with plans for discharge of the patient/client taking into consideration achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes. Discontinue intervention when the patient/client is unable to continue to progress toward goals or when the physical therapist determines that the patient/client will no longer benefit from therapy (in coordination with referring provider/team where indicated).
•According to the physical therapy plan of care, communicate, coordinate and document all aspects of patient/client management including the response to interventions, barriers to progress, changes in patient/client status relative to the interventions and discharge/discontinuation of intervention and other patient/client management activities with members of the care team as indicated. Supervise and direct the patient care activities of assigned rehab aides, office assistants and volunteers.
•Manage schedule to accommodate range in census and patient load and inform management of any issues with caseload management.
•Attend team meetings and effectively communicate patient status, using, if needed, the medical record or other treating therapists to ensure sufficient knowledge of the case.
•Be responsible for individual and assigned hospital performance improvement and professional development activities.
•Educate and provide consultation to consumers, healthcare professionals and the public regarding the purposes and benefits of therapy.
Qualifications include:
• Associate degree from an accredited PTA / COTA program required
•2-5 years of clinical experience
•1 year of site-specific experience within the past 2 years
•Inpatient Rehab experience preferred
•Experience with neurological patients preferred
•Experience with group therapy sessions preferred
•Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Work Schedule:
Sunday - Thursday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
