The Right Fit

 

Our Medical Records Specialists are core members of the team and are integral in ensuring an exceptional end to end patient experience. This includes coordinating medical records off-site storage and retrieval, inventory tracking, pickup and delivery arrangements, and boxing of records in accordance with all state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.

 

What You'll be Doing

 

Accountable for coordinating medical records requests in accordance with all state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
Ensure receipt of, and logs all payments for medical records requests.
Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with both internal and external customers regarding medical records requests, in accordance with all state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
Implement effective communication and tracking mechanisms in an effort to optimize and speed the medical records request process.
Produce timely and accurate reports related to medical records storage.
Take proactive measures to remain current on HIPAA requirements and educate others with regards to such guidelines.
Meet regularly with Revenue Cycle Manager to review, analyze, and develop individual and team goals and expectations.
Maintain consistent open and direct dialogue with all team members.
Participate in training and education sessions to all aspects of the billing department.
Participate in cross-training to other job functions as assigned.
Act as mentor to others in the cross-training process for the Medical Records Specialist role.
Promote and participate in positive relationship building with provider representatives, patient, vendors, and all other internal and external customers.
Assist in developing the highest standards of quality assurance with regards to medical records and other job functions.
Promote and participates in problem resolution in all areas of billing department.
Promote and participate in maximizing productivity and the attainment of individual, team, and company goals.
Communicate with clients and patients (as needed).
Sort and distribute incoming mail, ensuring all accounting-related documents are delivered to accounting department accurately and in a timely manner.

What You Bring to the Role

 

Minimum high school diploma or GED
Experience in the area of medical records
Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and medical terminology
Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills
