Purpose
This position will join the User Services team and be responsible for supporting users and their research activities on TACC resources. This individual will support machine access, answer technical questions, support training efforts, and assist with various other projects as needed.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of TACC’s user support staff, fielding technical questions from TACC’s large user community.
- Collaborate with High Performance Computing (HPC) colleagues to resolve users’ issues and improve their experience.
- Employ software tools to understand trends and develop mitigation strategies for recurring issues.
- Conduct training, support technical documentation, and otherwise contribute to outreach initiatives intended to improve users’ understanding of tools and technologies available at TACC.
- Contribute to research initiatives intended to advance the state of the art in HPC and related disciplines.
- Contribute to team efforts to coordinate and deliver projects that improve the user experience at TACC and delivery high quality services to the scientific research community.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, mathematics, technology, or other discipline related to TACC’s core mission with customer support experience.
- Three years of experience.
- Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
- Exemplary written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with various groups.
- Proven ability to provide effective customer service and support.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of customer or research support experience.
- Experience supporting users via ticketing systems.
- Experience with Linux or related technologies.
- Strong programming skills in Python and at least one other language.
- Ability to make effective use of software engineering tools and technologies (e.g. change management, debugging, testing, scripting, and profiling.)
- Knowledge of principles and practices associated with parallel computing.
Salary Range
$80,000+ depending on qualifications
