Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Entry-Level Civil/Site Engineer to join a dynamic and highly technical team of engineers, planners, and technicians in Franklin, TN.  As a Civil/Site Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, investigation, planning, analysis, technical production, and field oversight of a variety of projects in both the public sector and private industry. You will also have the opportunity to work in diverse teams of technical experts providing innovative solutions that improve the quality of public facilities used every day by people across the state of Tennessee.

This position is expected to begin in December 2023.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the design of roads, utilities, and stormwater infrastructure for non-linear civil engineering projects.
  • Erosion control design and drafting to ensure water quality standards are met on construction projects.
  • Creating 3-dimensional digital models of drainage systems using the latest engineering software.
  • Preparing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans and environmental permit applications to be submitted to regulatory authorities.
  • Preparing engineering plans, construction documents, maps, reports, construction cost estimates, and other project-related items.
  • Creating designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Conducting engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Preparing engineering-related calculations (i.e. cut/fill volumes, quantity summations, loading, drainage, hydraulics, etc.) under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Performing drainage and hydraulics calculations.
  • Collecting site information and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Designing projects that include ADA improvements.
  • Reading, analyzing, and interpreting engineering and construction documents, soil and material reports, and government regulations.
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Working with clients such as the state, cities, and counties of Tennessee, in addition to other agencies around the region.
  • Create new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges through a strong commitment to innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET Accredited University.
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License is required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Prior experience in Civil Engineering.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.  Willingness to learn new programs for design.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with various drainage analysis programs.
  • EIT or FE Certificate
  • Ability to work in a professional setting.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of general civil engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
