This is a paid position and you can expect to work 40 hours/ week. </em></strong><strong><em>Participation in the internship program requires that you are located near your assigned office as the program is a hybrid work schedule, requiring you to be in the office at least 2 days per week.</em></strong></p><p>Verisk is looking for Interns to support our large team of <strong>actuaries </strong>and <strong>data analytics experts</strong>, who create innovative analytic products based on our <strong>unique database of over 21 billion records spanning more than twenty lines of insurance.</strong></p><p>You will support Pricing Data Analytics Team members in creating a wide variety of ISO’s analytic solutions including actuarial products (for example loss costs and rating factors; analysis of trends impacting premiums and claims); analytical data management, including smart data quality analytics, data aggregations provided to US state insurance regulators and analytic research & development.</p><p>A successful candidate will possess technical and mathematical skills, to manipulate data and derive analyses. Most important, though, is a sense of inquisitiveness about data, and the ability not just to find patterns in data, but to also understand what they mean.</p><p><strong>What will you do?</strong></p><ul><li>Review the quality of data provided by insurance companies, both in transactional detail and in aggregate, and help companies to correct errors.</li><li>Understand and support our business processes, and recommend improvements in data management, error identification, quality control, process automation, or analytic techniques.</li><li>Create, modify and execute computer programs to extract, transform and summarize data, as input to derive analyses and reports.</li><li>Support strategic initiatives associated to cloud computing, by helping to migrate code, data and processes, and reconciling results against existing procedures.</li><li>Support to create clear and easy-to-understand reports. Present your analyses, ideas, progress and results to internal manager and colleagues. Support a high-performance collaborative culture. Participate in peer-review with colleagues on an ongoing basis to learn, teach, and ultimately, produce high quality results.</li></ul><p><strong>What will you learn?</strong></p><ul><li>The useful technics and tricks how to manipulate and work with a large dataset (>1,000,000 rows).</li><li>How to use your technical skills in practice: how to share the work, create clear codes, how to cooperate with other business partners and manage deadlines.</li><li>Foundations of Business Intelligence & advanced data analytics tools and project management techniques around them (we provide necessary materials and dedicated support for you).</li><li>The structure of insurance datasets & basic actuarial concepts.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Enrolled in 3rd year of Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree with a major in Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Risk Management or related discipline </li><li>Some experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, using at least one of the tools such as SQL (it is a strong asset), Python, R or SAS.</li><li>Technical background should include a working knowledge of MS Office applications (especially intermediate knowledge of Excel) and an understanding of computer programming concepts.</li><li>Fluency in English is required.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.</li></ul><p><u>Not required but nice to have:</u></p><ul><li>Data visualization software such as Power BI, Tableau, others.</li><li>Using VBA to automate tasks in Microsoft Office.</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><p>At the heart of what we do is help clients manage risk.
