Job Summary:

As a key member of the Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics’ Executive Leadership Team, the Senior Associate AD for Athletics Development will assist the department in providing strong vision, leadership, management, coordination and oversight of athletics fundraising operations.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Leads a high-performance team to secure philanthropic investment for Furman’s Athletics programs – through effective planning, implementation. and evaluation of donor-specific strategies.
  • Serves as a key member on both the Athletics Executive Team and the University Development Leadership Team.
  • This role is responsible for creating external and engaging relationships with alumni, parents, donors and prospects in support of Furman Athletics.
  • Oversees major gift fundraising for the Intercollegiate Athletics Program, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors for the Program.
  • Develops and executes the strategic vision for fundraising including major giving, annual giving, stewardship, alumni relations, and marketing programs related to fundraising for Furman Athletics.
  • Leads by example, managing a personal portfolio of high-level prospective donors and setting the highest possible standard for professional and personal conduct.
  • Provides strategic direction to donors and prospective donors as they make significant philanthropic investment decisions.
  • Ensures compliance with all Furman and NCAA policies, rules and procedures relative to fundraising and overseeing Furman’s athletic giving program.
  • Actively participates in strategic planning, budget development and goal-setting at a leadership level.
  • Travels for donor meetings and to support Furman Athletics and University events.
  • Maintains a visible, engaging presence at home football and men’s basketball events for purposes of building donor relationships and providing visible leadership for student-athletes, staff, and Furman constituents.
  • Works collaboratively and proactively with all University Development colleagues as well as other internal partners in the Athletics Department and others across campus.
  • Supervises the following:
    • Athletics Development Staff
    • Opportunity for Sport Supervision
  • Recruits, trains, mentors and retains a highly effective Athletic Giving team that supports division-wide and university efforts.
  • Fosters an environment of collaboration, cooperation and excellence, including establishing equitable and consistent metrics for team accountability.
  • Regularly evaluates comprehensive performance of team, identifies opportunities for improvement, measures outcomes and reports recommendations.
  • Ability to regularly work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics.
