Adjunct Instructor (76028)

Description

The Social Work department is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and student-focused adjunct instructor to teach undergraduate Social Work students, SOW 2240 Emerging Issues in Aging, in the spring 2026 semester. This course introduces students to the multidisciplinary study of older adults.  We are seeking a proactive and engaging individual who can integrate technology into their teaching and comfortable with using a learning management system.

Responsibilities:

1. Course instruction: Deliver engaging instruction based on the approved syllabus, including lectures, discussions, and practical applications of course content.
2. Assessment and Evaluation: Design and administer assessments, including exams, assignments, and projects
3. Student Engagement: Create an inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and critical thinking
4. Office Hours: Offer virtual office hours to provide academic support, guidance, and mentorship to students as needed.
5. Compliance: Ensure adherence to university policies and department guidelines, including attendance, grading, and student engagement

Qualifications:

1. Education: Master of Social Work (MSW) degree or higher from a CSWE-accredited program
2. Licensure: LMSW or LCSW licensure in New York state
3. Experience: Previous teaching experience in a college or university setting
4. Skills: Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and instructional technologies.
