About the role

POSITION SUMMARY

You will be primarily responsible for applying flexible resourcing and vendor management strategies for assigned Clinical Development and Operations (CD&O) functions, and other R&D functions as needed.

You will collaborate with CD&O leadership and other key stakeholders to facilitate the development, implementation, and revision of flexible resource sourcing strategies.  This may include facilitation of periodic governance and recognition events, further development and enhancement of strategy, ensuring alignment with CD&O overarching strategies and vendor management framework. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Resource Sourcing

  • Partner with internal customers to identify and evaluate available sourcing and resourcing options to support decision-making relative resourcing needs at a global and local level.

  • In collaboration with internal customer (Function), gain an in-depth understanding of requirements to secure appropriate level and type of resources from service providers. Facilitate Sourcing and Vendor Strategy Meetings to ensure alignment of all internal stakeholders

  • May be required to prepare a Request for Information and initiate investigation for alternative vendor solutions, in the absence of an established sourcing strategy.

  • Independently pressure test and analyze complex budget proposals and provide recommendations and analysis to internal customer for decision making

  • Facilitate the vendor selection process

  • Proactively escalate issues that may become contentious to line management.

  • Communicate impact of significant scope changes to Business Units/Research Units and other stakeholders proactively to ensure funding availability.

Vendor Relationship Management

  • Collaborate with Function to develop and implement specific metrics/KPIs with vendors, and ensure alignment with established CD&O framework
  • Participate and/or lead various vendor oversight meetings/interactions
  • Drive/manage roll-up of performance and relationship information to overarching Vendor Relationship Governance framework
  • Manage and oversee existing global MSA commitments and pricing, identify and negotiate additional MSA business terms for strategic vendors in collaboration with other BVSM functions.  May be required to author contracts from time to time
  • Recommend vendors suitable for establishing MSAs.
  • Where applicable, establishes governance for new functional service providers and new sourcing models as they emerge.
  • Lead/participate in special projects and/or initiatives to help achieve business objectives
  • May have line management responsibilities, including direct reports. May have day-to-day oversight of contractors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS  

  • Bachelors degree
  • 8+ years of Sponsor experience, CRO operational and/or proposal development/contract management experience, or other related experience, including significant experience negotiating and drafting vendor agreements
  • General knowledge of all phases of drug development (pre-clinical, phase I-IV, post-marketing/approval activities), including clinical trial and related function/service area costing
  • Finance/Clinical Budgeting Experience including:
  • A clear understanding of various contracting and budget models
  • Experience applying Enterprise-level contracting and outsourcing strategies  
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word/Powerpoint/Excel)
  • Strong internal and external influencing skills for expectation and timeline management

PREFERRED REQUIRMENTS

  • Experience leading a team
  • Experience with Ariba Contract Workbench, SalesForce, and / or other industry cost benchmarking or contract/budget management tools

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $156,600.00 to $261,000.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
