Job Description

Opportunity

The Accounting Manager manages and coordinates activities of Accounting Department personnel engaged in calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining revenue accounting and statistical records and in collection of aged accounts receivable.

►   Key Areas of Responsibility

• Recommends and implements plans for revenue accounting.
• Determines the correct revenue recognition policy for each revenue type.
• Compiles composite reports from individual reports of subordinates required by management or government agencies.
• Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, assigns duties, and expedites workflow for accounting.
• Examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Oversee the completion of SOX documentation for order to cash processes.
• Develop, review and maintain processes and procedures to improve efficiency of system and subordinates.
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year end close and compile monthly financial package.
• Coordinate and oversee yearly audit of financial statements.

Qualifications

►   Key Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in accounting from four-year college or university. Minimum of 5 years of experience demonstrating progressively more responsible positions in accounting. Minimum of two years’ experience managing an accounting department or 4 years of auditing experience with a public accounting firm.
• CPA or CMA preferred..
• Experience in accounting principles of order to cash, revenue recognition, manufacturing, business and tax law.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general ledger and other computer-generated accounting reports, financial statements, and business periodicals.
• This position requires daily use of an accounting software package for a medium size company.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, other associates and vendors is required.
