Senior Research Associate in the College of Engineering (COE), Center for Automotive Research (CAR) who initiates and leads research and development efforts focused on experimental research of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), autonomous vehicles and related systems; plans, conducts, demonstrates, and documents sponsored research project and activities, functioning as the technical expert, in the areas of vehicle safety and telematic technologies, general areas of control, hybrid state systems, simulation, sensing, estimation, sensor fusion, and telematics and communication technologies; develops procedures for experimental data analysis, recognizes and promotes the interdisciplinary nature of intelligent transportation systems and autonomous vehicle research across multiple departments and research centers; serves as coPrincipal Investigator on research grants and contracts; assists in the preparation of research proposals; serves as liaison with research sponsoring agencies as well as with other research and educational institutes; prepares technical reports for submission to sponsoring agencies; writes journal and conference articles; makes presentations at conferences and symposia; mentors and coordinates graduate students in analyzing and documenting their research results and activities and projects; develops and maintains research facilities; pursues new research programs; supports teaching and training in intelligent transportation systems and autonomous vehicles.

6 years of experience; in an engineering research capacity is required; ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge to the conduct of engineering research; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work dynamically in a diverse team environment.

Desired:

Experience in an academic research capacity; ability to independently meet research goals, solve problems, and develop scientific ideas.

The target hiring range for this job profile is $103,000 - $134,500. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
