The pay for this position ranges from $130,000 - $142,000.

 

 

Overview:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated electrical Power Systems Controls Engineer to join the multi-disciplinary Advanced Technology team responsible for designing advanced fuel cell-based systems for power generation, carbon capture, hydrogen production, and energy storage applications. 

 

Responsibilities:

The Power System Controls Engineer will be responsible for electrical control system design, programming and commissioning for our fuel cell Electrical Power switchgear and Power Inverters.  This position requires flexibility to work on multiple projects, covering a range of systems and technologies, in various stages of the design, construction, and validation.

 

  • Develop PLC/HMI Software for new and existing control systems.
  • Lead the development of HMI software and advanced knowledge and experience
  • Select suitable Controls System Components.
  • Program and commission SEL relaying and RTAC controllers
  • Program PLC’s for complex electrical control systems such as microgrids and automatic transfer systems.
  • Test New and Modified fuel cell controls subsystems and Integrated Control System to validate their suitability.
  • Mentors team members sharing technical knowledge.
  • Selects suitable Instrumentations and Field Actuators considering operational variation
  • Performs I/O loop checks on new controls systems and retrofitted existing Control systems.
  • Prepares and maintains Engineering design documentation.
  • Supports troubleshooting and resolution of I&C-related Field Issues
  • Provide system commissioning and operational support.

 

Qualifications:

Education:            BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technlogy

Experience:          Minimum 7 years of PLC and HMI programming experience

                               Minimum of 7 years’ experience working with Low voltage and Medium voltage switchgear.

 

Required Experience and Characteristics:

  • Thorough understanding of Medium and Low Voltage Switchgear and the safety requirements for working around such equipment.
  • Experience programming SEL Protective relaying and RTAC RTU’s
  • Experience programming PLCs, including hardware configuration, Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and User Defined Function Blocks.
  • Experience programming Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s).
  • Experience programming Complex control systems such as automatic transfer systems and microgrids for power distribution systems.
  • Thorough understanding of communication networks
  • Programming experience with Modbus and DNP protocols, and IEC61850 systems
  • Familiar with P&IDs, PFDs, Logic Diagrams, Instrument Loop Diagrams.
  • Ability to work with Electrical Engineering to develop electrical drawings and documentation (e.g. Single Line, Three Line, Wiring & Interconnect Drawings)
  • HAZOP, FMEA, DFSS, electrochemistry experience desired.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to work effectively with others, both internally and externally.
