Team Overview

The Business Continuity Team (BCM) is part of the broader Resilience, Safety and Security team (RSS) which contributes to the continued success of BlackRock through strategic solutions and business services that provide each employee with an efficient, resilient, safe and high-performance work experience.

Enterprise Resilience, Safety and Security is comprised of four key functions – Business Continuity Management (BCM), Disaster Recovery (DR), Security and Safety. These teams are tasked with implementing a risk-based management approach to safeguard BlackRock staff and visitors, as well as its reputation, physical and information assets, and operations from potential disruptive events.

The BCM team oversees the resilience of our operations by documenting and analyzing risks, developing mitigation plans, and conducting exercises to validate these plans. The team is also responsible for providing a crisis response framework to effectively coordinate activities during disruptive events.

Position Purpose

This role will provide direct support to the Business Continuity Management program and standards, aiming to uphold a resilient, prepared and responsive business environment in the event of a disaster.

This role will report to the Americas Head of BCM and will support regional operations as required.

Your key responsibilities:

BCM Planning

  • Develop, implement, and uphold business continuity planning aligned with global standards and local regulations, tailored to the needs of business functions in the region.
  • Conduct Business Impact Analyses to pinpoint recovery needs, collaborating with business stakeholders to devise and execute recovery plans in case of business disruptions.
  • Ensure plans are developed with a high level of quality and adherence to BCM policy and standard requirements.
  • Ensure that recovery strategies are tailored to meet the specific needs of the business and are effective in achieving their intended objectives.
  • Manage and facilitate annual business recovery exercises, encompassing Dedicated Recovery Sites (DRS), Alternate Office, and Work Transfer as needed, tailored to specific functions and locations.
  • Ensure timely remediation and closure of exercise findings and ensure exercise reports adhere to global standards.

Crisis Management

  • Monitor potential disruptive incidents across the region and coordinate with regional and country stakeholders, as required, to ensure appropriate response and communications.
  • Assist in the coordination of Crisis Management invocations and provide support during disruptive incidents that require the invocation of business continuity plans.
  • Manage the emergency notification system and ensure proficiency and inclusion when activating crisis management teams.
  • Develop and implement Crisis Management training and tabletop exercises in the region.

Ensure that Crisis Team Memberships are accurately maintained in accordance with global policies and standards.

Education & Awareness

  • Ensure businesses are proficient in updating business continuity plans in our BCM planning system.
  • Coordinate plan walkthroughs and tabletop exercises to raise BCP awareness.

Qualification, Experience & Key Competencies:

  • Bachelors or higher degree
  • 4+ years of related job experience
  • Strong analytical and data visualization skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Team player, ready to promote a culture of collaboration, innovation and mutual respect
  • Willing to provide support during a crisis 24/7/365, if needed
  • Experience with Security or Health & Safety a plus


 

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
