POSITION SUMMARY: 

Supports the work of Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Builds members’ and the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact. Creates a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures with advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)  

Provides quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring while using a DEI lens.  

Requirements

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Meets 80% to 100% of the following qualifications: 

  • Ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect. 
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 
  • At least 16 years of age. 
  • CPR, First Aid, and Mandatory Safety Training certifications within 45 days (about 1 and a half months) of hire.  
  • Child Abuse Prevention training and Y applicable training within 7 days of hire.  
  • A desire to work with children in a developmental setting.  
  • Ability to implement age appropriate, developmentally appropriate program activities as directed. 

PREFERED LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A certificate in DEI or extensive training and work experience. 
  • Has at least 5 years of experience in a Childcare setting. 
  • Has 2+ years’ experience in implementing age-appropriate activities.
