Description

The PM (Preventive Maintenance) Lube Tech / Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for performing scheduled maintenance, inspections, lubrication, and minor repairs on heavy equipment and machinery. This role ensures that all equipment remains in optimal operating condition and complies with safety and performance standards.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance services (oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-offs, etc.) on heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and haul trucks.

  • Conduct inspections to identify potential mechanical issues or leaks before they become serious problems.

  • Lubricate moving parts and apply grease/oils per manufacturer guidelines.

  • Maintain accurate service records and document all maintenance work.

  • Replenish and maintain stock of lubricants, filters, and service supplies.

  • Perform basic mechanical repairs (e.g., belts, hoses, minor hydraulic fixes).

  • Monitor and report any equipment issues that may require advanced maintenance.

  • Operate service trucks and tools in compliance with company and safety policies.

  • Ensure cleanliness and proper disposal of used fluids and parts.

  • Collaborate with equipment operators and shop supervisors to schedule maintenance effectively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Technical training or certification in diesel mechanics, lubrication systems, or heavy equipment maintenance preferred.

  • 1–3 years of experience in equipment maintenance or lube technician role.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with diesel engines, hydraulics, and mobile equipment systems.

  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals and maintenance logs.

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL may be preferred or required for some positions).

Physical Demands

  • Lift/push/pull up to 75 lbs

  • Work in outdoor environments, all weather conditions

  • Use of hand tools, torque wrenches, forklifts, and cranes

  • Strong manual dexterity, hearing, and visual acuity

  • Must be flexible, physically active, and detail-oriented
