We are looking for a highly communicative, motivated, and organized entry-level Junior Staff Accountant to join our team onsite at our Winchester, Virginia location.
*This is NOT a remote position; it is hybrid and working regularly from the office is expected*
Job Description
The Junior Staff Accountant will assist in the day-to-day accounting department activities including but not limited to journal entry preparation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation. This position is also responsible for providing administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective and efficient operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists Staff Accountant with the preparation and oversees the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets.
- Prepares monthly journal entries in compliance with established policies and procedures and GAAP. Journal entries include:
- Cash account transfers and other activity.
- Month end adjustments/reconciliation entries
- Performs monthly balance sheet account analysis by creating back-up schedules and investigating any material differences or changes.
- Thoroughly researches transactions and various general ledger accounts to gather, review, and analyze data to present findings to Staff Accountant.
- Participates in a wide variety of special projects and compiles a variety of special reports.
- Aids in the preparation of sales tax filings in multiple states.
- Assists with other duties as assigned by Staff Accountant and CFO.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
- In lieu of degree, General Accounting certificate or equivalent plus 1-2 years' experience in an accounting position at a medium-sized company required.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite, Sage, SAP, etc.) ideal.
