Many patients come to Cleveland Clinic feeling anxious before an operation. Our family of caregivers can offer them peace and comfort throughout their treatment to ease any concerns they may have. As a Surgical Services Support Technician, you will have opportunities to communicate with patients while transporting them to designated areas. Along with providing other technical support tasks, your role on the team is essential to providing a safe and sanitary operating room.
A caregiver in this position works days, M-F: 7:45am—4:15pm. No Holidays/Weekends.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Safely transport patients to designated areas per nursing requests.
Assist nursing caregivers during surgical cases as requested.
Maintain and control support services equipment and supplies.
Maintain the OR in an aesthetically safe and sanitary condition.
Enter job tasks into electronic computer software systems.
Assist in prepping and shaving patients for surgery.
Coordinate and maintain uniform room activities, such as locker assignments and scrubs.
Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
Comply with special cleaning requests for radioactive waste and infection control surgical cases.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or willing to obtain within the new hire period
One year of customer service experience
Healthcare experience
