Role Overview
The Production leader will lead Sourcing and Production functions, as well as cross-functional collaboration to drive right product, at the right cost, delivered on time.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proactively communicates to mills and factories seasonal projections, negotiates required key delivery dates, and generic TNA early in the season to ensure the proper planning and staging of the programs, ahead of order placement.
- Responsible for costing negotiation at program level, and for driving best costs, to ensure the department meets or exceeds seasonal margin goals.
- Responsible for program placement with overseas mills, factories, and offices in a timely manner, with proper program specific TNAs and with the right capacity allocation and production planning, to meet contracted deliveries.
- Leads the cross-functional team in the execution and adherence to program specific Development and Production TNAs. Responsible for the follow through of the approval process from completed BOM handoff from design, color and components approvals, technical follow up, fit approvals, pre-production, testing and TOP approvals. Collaborates with stakeholders to address and resolve issues with product approvals and / or testing failures. Proactively elevates issues to supervisor as needed.
- Evaluates production issues to determine possible impact to deliveries. Facilitates and leads the cross-functional decision-making required to evaluate quality levels found during production and required changes to ship modes to support customer deliveries.
- Partnership with Domestic and Offshore QA Teams. Proactively communicates intended program allocation before placement, and champions the adherence to critical QA steps before, during and at the end of production, to ensure products arrive at final destination with “no” quality control issues thus enabling all customers orders to ship “ON-TIME”.
- Oversees the timely update of POs in the system. Enforces the practice of timely bookings by factories, and the approval of correct vessel schedules, in line with customer deliveries.
- Works with Management on improvement of process flow, and implementation of new initiatives.
- Business Specific: Partners with Sales / Planning Team to ensure proper support of the business at the right level of stock. Owns updating and communicating monthly program specific capacity plans to factories and mills, addressing and elevating issues with factory loading or capacity issues as needed.
- Business Specific: Liability Management. Effective communication of liabilities to leadership to ensure all parties involved are aware of relevant details. Offers recommendations and solutions.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in apparel Product Development, Production, QA and Testing
- Preferred experience with Mass Market retailers such as Walmart, Costco, Target, etc.
- Understanding of fabrics and trims, YY, CM, and Cost Components in a Garment.
- Thorough understanding of cost component breakdown, CPM and SMV knowledge preferred.
- General knowledge of Manufacturing process, product testing and compliance.
- Experience with Fabric and Materials staging and platforming.
- Vendor and Mill Capacity Planning.
- Must be a Cross-functional Team Leader and must be able to manage and mentor direct reports.
- Exceptionally strong problem solving and negotiating skills with factories and materials supplies
- Ability to communicate well with Factories as well as suppliers at all levels and all levels of internal teams within DGUSA
- Overseas travel experience.
- Must be proficient in Word and Outlook
- Advance proficiency in Excel (v-lookup, pivot tables, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills a must
- Detail oriented with strong follow-up skills and sense of urgency<
