Job Description

As a Loss Prevention & Safety (LP&S) Installation and Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining computers, cameras, and other components critical to store operations. It is the responsibility of the technician to work with Loss Prevention & Safety leadership to coordinate travel to maximize the operations of all equipment in an efficient manner. The technician will be responsible for maintaining the assigned company vehicle and trailer. Travel as required for the role, including occasional overnights with some extended stays out of town when needed. The Loss Prevention & Safety Installation and Maintenance Technician will report to the Loss Prevention & Safety Department.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, or computer systems, following plans as laid out by the LP&S management teams.
  • Install electrical components, equipment, or systems. (i.e., cameras, monitors, computers, and DVRs.) Clean and maintain components as needed.
  • Some repair of electrical components.
  • Run low-voltage cables throughout buildings to accommodate security and network functionality.
  • Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, or cavity walls to reach fixture outlets, positioning and terminating cables, wires, or strapping.  Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, or floors. All work must be completed in a neat and organized fashion.
  • Mount raceways and conduits and fasten wires to wood framing, using staplers.
  • Test backup batteries, DVR connectivity, and computer connectivity to ensure proper functioning or to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Inspect safety equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Document operational activities.
  • Run wiring to connect equipment in a neat and organized fashion.
  • Order materials, supplies, or equipment as authorized and needed.

Safeguarding company assets

  • Recognize safety and security risks, remedy the situation, and alert proper personnel.
  • Recognize safety hazards to self, other employees, and customers by performing duties accurately, safely, and securely, and alerting the appropriate person to problems or risks.
  • Uses appropriate lifting techniques and abides by safety policies and procedures.

Other Duties as assigned, including:

  • Provide position-specific training to new hires as requested
  • Assist in educating and maintaining store-wide standards in maintenance, safety, and security as requested.
  • Assist customers while conducting all assigned duties.
  • Assist with other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) needed

Knowledge of POS systems and applications, computers, and Windows programs: Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.

Skills: Able to communicate clearly and timely with internal managers and team members; work independently and plan and execute priorities; multi-tasking and prioritizing; excellent reliability and attendance, diligence and focus on producing results while on the clock; showing initiative while also possessing tact to work in various environments; demonstrating courtesy and cooperation; attentiveness to others; maintaining confidentiality; showing enthusiasm. 

Physical Ability: Presence at the job and ability to perform the job are essential functions; use of arm, abdominal, and lower back muscles to stand in one spot for prolonged periods. Must be able to walk, reach, and lift to 50 pounds frequently and greater on an infrequent basis, and spend 100% of work time standing and moving.

Driving: Must maintain assigned company vehicles to company standards. Must be able to pull a company-owned trailer and be certified to operate a scissor lift.
