Description

Position Summary:

This position directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering project within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Conceptual design of new products and ideas to improve existing products
  • Work within STC Minor Change Agreement to maintain existing legacy product data
  • Create and track schedules using MicroSoft Project, or equivalent
  • Manage projects from initial drawing release to liaison support and product delivery
  • Maintain metrics to track budget and schedule requirements
  • Manage components of R&D projects
  • Manage prototype construction and testing
  • Create R&D proposals for U.S. government and private industry funding
  • Research vendors 
  • Develop Return on Investment and business case analysis
  • Create and present concepts/products to internal and external customers
  • Manage the design, purchase, assembly and testing of prototypes
  • Create test plans, conduct testing and documenting results
  • Technical presentations to internal and external customers
  • Executing components of design projects
  • Product definition and requirements development
  • Creating and validating new designs (modeling/drafting/BOM creation)
  • Creating and presenting concepts/products to internal and external customers coordinating with internal customers
  • Materials research and selection to support design requirements
  • Qualification test plan/report creation and management
  • Manufacturing liaison support
  • Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Coordinates with Project Engineers to maintain current and develop new engineering standard work.
  • Acts as a mentor and provides feedback for lower level engineers
  • Participates in peer technical reviews and final design sign-off
  • Participate in project bids and proposals for bid hours and technical compliance
